Ethan Porter

Designer

Ethan is motivated by architecture that is a reflection of its context. He designs spaces that react to the existing sense of place while invigorating the surrounding environment to create buildings that evoke emotion. Ethan’s passion for critical thinking about design and human experience led him to pursue a Bachelor of Architecture from Virginia Tech. He brings devotion towards thoughtful crafting of buildings to Duda|Paine as he participates in the firm’s iterative process of design.

What attracted you to the architectural field?

Growing up with parents in the architectural profession, I’ve always been inspired by the positive effect well crafted space can have on people. That coupled with an intuitive curiosity for how things are put together has given me a passion for architecture and design.

Favorite Duda|Paine project?

I really enjoy 601 Massachusetts Ave. The way the two glass volumes tectonically intersect and emphasize entry generated a remarkably compelling space. Additionally, the clarity of concept in the project positions itself as a primary element of design in the firm’s architecture.
