Shawna M. Hammon, AIA, NCARB, LEED AP BD+C

Architect

Shawna’s approach to architecture puts a positive and proactive spin on being a self-proclaimed ‘control freak.’ She translates her fascination with designing spaces that profoundly impact the behavior of building occupants into a focus on building details and building a shared sense of responsibility with team members. Shawna is active in the American Institute of Architects Triangle Chapter where she serves as the Young Architects Forum Chair.

Favorite Duda|Paine project?

The Duke University Student Wellness Center exemplifies architecture at its best with an incredibly simple, yet compelling, parti and for its beautiful use of glulams.

What aspect of your work most interests you?

Project management. Much like the conductor of an orchestra I love bringing together all the individual elements to produce a greater whole.

What attracted you to architecture?

It engages both sides of the brain by being simultaneously creative and technical.

Anything else you’d like to share?

When not reading with my cat MooMoo, I might be found racing motorcycles with my husband, Kevin.
