Public Rooms are an essential part of shaping great cities, and the world’s preeminent cities are remembered for their centers of civic life. Café Street establishes a center for civic life at the Terminus complex by connecting cafes, shops, offices, residences and access to parking under a chevron-shaped glass canopy. The design is a ‘good neighbor’ amidst rapid urban growth—its public spaces are art-infused and provide much needed breathing room in Atlanta’s dense Buckhead district.
The master plan for Terminus separates a heavily trafficked outer street for vehicles from protected inner-pedestrian circulation. Café Street becomes the transition between the two, invigorating and enlivening the ground level experience.
