Cox Communications wanted a headquarters facility to embody its corporate ideals and provide an environment that fosters interaction and collaboration between its five distinct divisions. The 15-year design effort included placing a pair of high-tech office buildings to frame the campus’ northern gateway. The towers add new office space atop a below-grade parking deck. Linking the towers is the Garden Pavilion—a transparent and accessible public entry and crossroads that functions as a family room to foster collaboration between the technology buildings through chance encounters and planned events. The Pavilion overlooks an event lawn and grove of mature trees, connecting occupants to their natural surroundings.
The towers’ cubist arrangement of form and varying exterior surfaces resonate with Cox’s goal of uniting its distinct business divisions in a unified headquarters complex. Colored spandrel and clear vision glass and expressed aluminum sun screens reflect the high-tech nature of Cox’s core business, while limestone adds a warm natural aesthetic.
