Research Triangle Park Center Guiding Principles
Research Triangle Park, North Carolina
The RTP Park Center Guiding Principles planning document furthers the original vision of Research Triangle Park (RTP) founders, who sought to shape a place where research communities could come together and invent the future. The new document creates a foundational “spirit book” that defines objectives for architects, designers, developers, residents and tenants as they shape future RTP building projects on the 100-acre campus. Its guidelines bring definition to the process of creating spaces that foster and further a future of innovation and technological progress and bring employment and educational opportunities to the area. More a design framework than a prescribed set of standards, the document aids the over-laying of individuality, identity, brand and character for businesses and research enterprises, reflecting a planning thought process intended to serve multiple authors and to allow individual expression over time within a larger whole.
