Brian Payne | AIA, CDT
Associate Principal | Director, Digital Practice
Motivated by the success of his colleagues and the firm’s clients, Brian creates tools to address the multiple perspectives of architecture, including project management, constructability, client impact, documentation and specifications.
When completing a survey in high school to find his career path, Brian crossed out all but one option: architecture. Although he was introduced to the field arbitrarily, Brian found a deep-seated passion for knowing how every part of a building can work together seamlessly. A designer at heart, Brian shares his technical knowledge with fellow staff members to ensure projects reach their highest potential. He enjoys configuring processes and systems that enable his coworkers to learn and progress in their careers.
As a REVIT BIM Manager and Specifications Writer, Brian has become an expert on integrating specifications into the firm’s construction document process. He has shared his expertise as a conference speaker for Bilt North America, the Building Enclosure Council, the Construction Specifications Institute (CSI) Raleigh/Durham Chapter, and CSI Online Events.
A history buff, Brian appreciates projects like The Dillon that have adaptive reuse features and make a positive impact on their city. He aims to create memorable spaces and architectural moments that people want to experience.
Bachelor of Architecture, California State Polytechnic University at Pomona
