Nick Purdy | AIA
Nick brings 15 years of experience in event management, theatrical and event production design, and operations for academic, professional, and community performance venues into his role as an architect. He has contributed to a variety of building types including higher education, science and technology, cultural and K-12 projects. Nick finds great satisfaction in working closely with clients to ensure their shared vision for a project is realized.
Before pursuing a career in architecture, Nick received a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Syracuse University in Design & Technical Theater. He contributed to the design and placemaking of student centers and performing arts facilities while managing programs at Syracuse University, Babson College and NC State University. As a client and end user for the Talley Student Union at NC State University, Nick worked with Duda|Paine to transform and renovate infrastructure that was critical for the event spaces he operated. Shortly after receiving a Master of Architecture from NC State University, he began work as an architect at Clark Nexsen where he helped design notable higher education, cultural and institutional facilities such as the Charlotte Mecklenburg New Main Library, UNC Charlotte’s Science Building and Fitts-Wollard Hall at NC State University.
Nick enjoys the opportunity to blend his foundational passions in design and theater by working on inspiring environments. His other interests include urban planning, historic architecture and preservation, adaptive reuse, architectural lighting and photography.
