Appalachian State University Master Plan

Inspired by its location in the Blue Ridge Mountains, Appalachian State University (ASU) values environmental stewardship, integrative scholarship and community involvement. The Master Plan 2025 expands this commitment and supports ASU’s Strategic Plan with guidelines for campus development, future buildings, infrastructure and open space needs over the next twenty years. The Plan integrates successful existing campus features and considers future enrollment growth, changes in pedagogy and sustainable practices.

The master planning process involved a thorough campus analysis and the synthesis of input received during meetings between the Design Team, ASU and the community. The Master Plan 2025’s broad principles and framework shape a ‘Living Document,’ intended to evolve as Appalachian State expands, promoting and ensuring future architectural, open space, street and infrastructure projects foster a unified campus that will remain true to ASU’s spirit and values.
