Center for health & Wellbeing
Winter Park, FLorida
The Center for Health & Wellbeing is the manifestation of Winter Park’s vision to bring the three realms of well-being—fitness, medical care and wellness—into one integrated center for preventative care. This state-of-the-art, landmark building serves as the cornerstone for community health by empowering individuals to achieve vitality and fitness. It houses an innovative combination of programs for fitness, clinical care and wellness, along with health-focused resources and adaptable spaces for learning.
The architecture for this new model draws inspiration from the inherent healing power of nature. This facility is more than a building—it is a complete, holistic experience. Garden spaces circle the site and include a walking trail and seating areas for respite. Walls in varying heights reflect the postures of sitting, standing and reaching to emerge from the gardens and establish the architecture’s basic geometry. These walls extend to the interior to enclose the clinical, fitness, culinary and meeting programs within. The heart of the project is the light-filled central Commons, which provides the community with flexible, multipurpose space for events and socializing. An interior walking track circles the upper level of the Commons.
