Favorite Duda|Paine project?
Trinity School Blake Hubbard Commons. It’s a gem of a project, full of meaning and special architecturally because of its small scale and the amazing quality of light in the finished space. The level of fit and finish is high, and it’s programmatically fun and fills a clear need at the school, yet the budget was very modest. This was also the first project I lead completely from the competition phase through completion, and it generated some wonderful local relationships.
What aspect of your job are you most motivated by?
I love learning about how people work and play in our future buildings. I love developing the relationships that lead us into a creative process to shape those buildings. And, ultimately, I love seeing all the ways our buildings get used that we did not plan.
Anything you’d like to share?
I have an amazing wife, two fabulous boys, and for them I work on my own house and cars. I play the guitar for my worship team and sometimes for a local indie band. I try to exercise enough, sleep enough, and read enough science fiction to keep me healthy.
