Appalachian State University Master Plan

Boone, North Carolina

Inspired by its location in the Blue Ridge Mountains, Appalachian State University (ASU) values environmental stewardship, integrative scholarship and community involvement. The Master Plan 2025 expands this commitment and supports ASU’s Strategic Plan with guidelines for campus development, future buildings, infrastructure and open space needs over the next twenty years. The Plan integrates successful existing campus spaces and features and encompasses future enrollment growth, changes in pedagogy and advancing sustainable practices.

The master planning process involved thorough campus surveys and analysis and the synthesis of input received during meetings with the campus and local communities. The master plan’s broad principles and framework shape a ‘living document,’ intended to evolve as Appalachian State expands to ensure future development supports a unified campus that will remain true to ASU’s spirit and values.
