RTI International Headquarters

RTI International’s mission to deliver the promise of science for global good inspired the design for its new global headquarters on their main campus in Research Triangle Park. Two goals drove the design effort: provide a catalyst for unifying the campus’ diverse research ‘silos’ and create a more public face for RTI’s extensive accomplishments.

The six-story building, the campus’s largest, features a variety of collaboration spaces for colleagues, visitors, and business and university research partners. The ground level and second floor are the most public areas and allow for impromptu encounters among colleagues and visitors. Its heritage center highlights the institution’s history and achievements. A new cafeteria features zones for collective and individual dining as well as outdoor garden seating. The second floor Collaboration Station and meeting spaces for varied group sizes, including a 300-person multipurpose space, are open to everyone on campus. A terrace overlooking RTI’s softball field and the surrounding landscape encourage employee connections to the outdoors. An adjacent, four-story parking structure provides approximately 650 spaces.
